“I pledge allegiance to the Cross that killed my Savior Jesus, and to converting the country in which I live, the only nation loved by God, evangelical, with salvation no longer a choice.”
Under God
(February 7, 2003)
This is the Pledge some people really want our children to say, allowing our country to become divided over two words in the Pledge of Allegiance, the inclusion “under God” ruled unconstitutional by the 9th District Court. Rather than offer a simple solution, removing the words, they would rather see it banned entirely.
Whatever happened to “one nation. . .indivisible?” Do the words “with liberty and justice for all” only benefit those who worship the Christian God? No matter how some may try to sugarcoat the issue saying they are defending the spirituality of America, their ultimate agenda is clear. Our nation is not under Allah, Vishnu, or any of the other names we give our maker. Our nation is not under G-d, unless of course we see Him as triune. They would even balk at the God who speaks through a Pope instead of directly to them. They want all of us to seek comfort in the only God they recognize, want us to call on Him as the sole defender of our country. They want our children to pray to Him, read only their impression of His book in their studies. They want to rewrite history and science, return us to speaking only good King James English. They want the Bible to be the only textbook allowed. They want our currency to be sanctioned by the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. They want all our laws to be what they say are His. They want their vision of the Kingdom of Heaven to be called the United States of America, but in reality they attack the very foundations of its existence, freedom of speech, religion and press.
They want to exclude the rest of us in the name of their God.
I for one love my country, the republic for which our flag stands. It represents a people tired of oppression and suffering who simply desire to live in peace. It is defended by a piece of paper, which I see today being burned through legal jargon. If the flag of the Pledge of Allegiance is the cover, the Constitution fills the book, the very essence of a great nation, and maybe those who would allow it to fall to satisfy their theocratic agenda need to take a closer look at their history, their lives, their treachery today in seeking to undermine what so many have fought and died for. When it comes to our rights, our freedoms, we need to be indivisible.
In my humble opinion two words are just not worth it, and I really don’t think God would mind us omitting them, to spare the liberty we hold dear.
